Sometimes the best way we can keep our small business audience happy is to keep them engaged. Make them feel as though they make the brand more important with their presence.
Attract the right fans
An excellent way to attract the right fans is to place your brand in front of those already interested in you. Making a Facebook page is one of the simplest ways to start off. There is a feature that Facebook has developed and it allows you to share your page with your current customers. All you would have to do is import your mailing list. By importing this you can pull in fans that have double-opted in to your email marketing campaign.
An excellent simple way to do this is by getting the new tool called Optyn. It can help you create these lists and organize them. You can personalize settings on how you would want to distribute information marketing wise. This gives you a lot more free time to perfect the little things. With personalization you only have to do some tweeking to what you have already done and not completely remake something new. It is definitely a time saver and beneficial to business.
Find out what interests your audience
Ask questions and answer questions of your customers. It is important to get inside their minds to fully understand the way your audience is thinking in relevance to your brand. This way they feel a part of the process. By appreciating their interests you can share your brand message while at the same time increasing overall engagement. And remember don’t talk at your audience, talk with them, give them a reason to care. When they care and feel like they are a part of something bigger they share your brand.
Co-Create with your audience
This ties into the one above but we are going to take it one step further. People are more likely to engage with something that they feel they have helped create. One good way is to create a blog from the questions and answers that you collected from the social media network you used to do it. When you do this you can quote the customer who answered the question and add their name in the post. Another way is to have the customer take a picture with the brand, post it, and hash tag your product. The audience feels as though they contributed in the marketing process.
Tell stories/ Showcase your humanity
People have done this for years and it has worked. When you tell a story people remember them more because it evokes emotional response and people spread emotion. Get personal when engaging with the audience so they know you are human too. Share some non-business related updates. A good example would be if you went on vacation, share some of the moments you are having on Instagram or Facebook. Engagement is not about growing the audience but taking care of the one you already have. This is how small businesses turn into loyal small armies.
